In the gold rush days of the rugged Yukon Territory, men were driven by an insatiable lust for gold, the elements were harsh and unforgiving, and the Indians would kill to rid their land of the intruding white man. In this severe environment a touching tale unfolds of a young orphaned boy and his eternal bond of friendship with a great northern dog.
Fighting a continual battle for survival, the young boy and his dog find their way to Dawson City, in the great frozen North, only to find it the center for self-seeking and ruthless "gold diggers". Quickly enlisting the aid of the beautiful Miss Sonya (Joan Collins), the orphan devises a plan to bring law and order to the town.
Betting their future and the towns destiny on the great dogs courage, the two confront Dawson City's corrupt kingpin (Jack Palance) in a dangerous showdown. Standing side by side, with the biting wind at their back they forge out a new and courageous beginning for the entire frontier.
